FIRST SECTION
Application no. 12470/21 A.A. and Others against Sweden lodged on 25 February 2021
STATEMENT OF FACTS
The applicants are an Afghan family consisting of a mother and four adult daughters who applied for asylum in Sweden in 2011 and again in 2017. They submitted that if they were to be deported to Afghanistan, where they lacked a male network, they would risk being killed or face treatment in contravention of Article 3 of the Convention. Moreover, they argued that their rights to respect for their family life within the meaning of Article 8 § 1 of the Convention would also be breached if they were to be deported. Their applications were rejected by the Migration Agency and, upon appeal, by the migration courts. On 9 March 2021 the Court indicated to the Government, under Rule 39 of its Rules, that the applicants should not be removed for the duration of the proceedings before the Court.
